May 2012 looks to be a bit slow as far as new albums by established R&B and Soul artists is concerned. The two biggest names on this month’s list are Tank, the bodybuilding singer-songwriter-producer who releases his fifth studio album, This is How I Feel this month; and Bobby Brown, the infamous New Edition member and ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston. Bobby’s first studio album in 15 years, The Masterpiece, comes out this month. Other noteworthy names include the legendary Earth, Wind and Fire, who are releasing a greatest hits album with a little new material on it. For full details, have a look below.

The daughter of the great Donny Hathaway, Lalah Hathaway made a good impression with her debut recording, Lalah Hathaway, in 1990. She not only displayed poise, confidence, and good technique, but was also versatile enough to do more than just light urban contemporary ballads. Her stage shows included jazz, pre-rock pop, and even gospel, and Hathaway later appeared on BET doing jazz and fusion. After her second and final album for Virgin, 1994′s A Moment, she went on a lengthy hiatus, returning in 1999 with Joe Sample for The Song Lives On (GRP). Outrun the Sky (Sanctuary, 2004), Self Portrait (Stax, 2008), and Where It All Begins (Stax, 2011). Fine albums involving collaborations with Mike City, Rahsaan Patterson, Rex Rideout, and Dre & Vidal, established Hathaway as one of the finest adult contemporary R&B vocalists of the 2000s and 2010s.

Anthony David was born in Savannah, Georgia, but got involved in the music business in Atlanta.There he met India Arie. David’s first song written for Arie was entitled “Part of My Life” for Arie’s 7x Grammy nominated album Acoustic Soul. David also toured with Arie in support of her album.
In 2004, he released his first independent album Three Chords & The Truth. Alongside India.Arie, he opened up for her shows with songs from his album, thereby getting more fame. Then eventually in 2006, he released his second independent album Red Clay Chronicles, of which also garnered attention from opening for India.Arie’s shows. His third 2008 release Acey Duecy, is a combination of both R&B and soul music. The album, with the release of its first single “Words”, a duet with Arie, has given the album more attention.
Anthony’s fourth album – released February 22, 2011 – is entitled As Above So Below and finds him teaming up with a new production partner – Nashville, Tennessee’s Shannon Sanders.[

In 1980, they exploded onto the music scene with the gold debut album, S.O.S.
During the eighties, they came back with more hits. Singles like “Just Be Good To Me”, “Tell Me If You Still Care” and “The Finest” topped the charts. They fired off six albums, including two gold, ON THE RISE and SANDS OF TIME.
They returned in 1991 with their eighth album, ONE OF MANY NIGHTS, spawning the it singles, “Sometimes I Wonder” and “Broken Promises”.
And now, The S.O.S. Band has come full circle, reuniting the original members of the group for a grand Reunion Tour.
