May 2011 isn’t a huge month for R&B and Soul music as far as blockbuster releases, but a number of respected veterans will put out new projects during the month. Maybe the one with the biggest buzz and most anticipation around it is Stone Rollin’, Raphael Saadiq’s follow-up to the phonemenal The Way I See It. Also due in May are MusiqInTheMagiq, Musiq Soulchild’s latest; and Kelly, the new release by R&B/Gospel singer Kelly Price. RAPHAEL SAADIQ – STONE ROLLIN
Raphael Saadiq, formerly of Tony Toni Tone and the supergroup Lucy Pearl, took the world by storm with his ’70s retro-Soul album, The Way I See It, in 2008. His latest release, which is inspired by the music of the 1950s, drops May 10 via Columbia Records.
