DECEMBER ALBUM REVIEWS

If November was the biggest month of 2010 for fresh R&B and Soul music, then December isn’t far behind. Plenty of big-name artists are putting out music just in time for the holidays, including R. Kelly’s retro album, Love Letter, and Ciara’s Basic Instinct, the release of which had been delayed throughout the second half of the year. Also albums by a number of singers who are household names for many R&B/Soul fans: Keyshia Cole, Avant, Keri Hilson and others. For full details, check the list below.

R KELLY – LOVE LETTER

“Love Letter” is the 11th studio CD from the pied piper of R & B.
The legendary “Ignition” singer is taking a page from the likes of Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway
and Marvin Gaye for this project. The lead single taken from “Love Letter” is the Motown-inspired
modern classic “When A Woman Loves,” that’s currently making inroads on the music charts.
The track will be followed by a second single, the title track ‘Love Letter’ that be hit the airwaves on November 22.
The King of R&B is hoping that “Love Letter” will remind the young generation that he is still
one of the most talented forces on the RnB music scene.
“Love Letter” will be released on December 14 via Jive Records.

KEYSHIA COLE – CALLING ALL HEARTS

Keyshia is set to drop her fourth studio album on Dec. 21 Geffen Records,
almost exactly two years after her third album was released.
The release is preceded by the singles: “Long Way Down” and “I Ain’t Thru” featuring Nicki Minaj.
The Minaj-assisted track recently debuted at number 65 on the Billboard U.S. R&B chart.
Tank is also expected to appear on Keyshia Cole’s fourth studio album.

KERI HILSON – NO BOYS ALLOWED

Keri’s sophomore album comes out Dec. 21 via Interscope.
The “Return the Favor” singer who has a bleach blonde Marilyn Monroe like wig on –
has unveiled the black and white cover art for the CD.
She can be seen wearing a zebra stripe top, smocking a cigarette/lipstick
with bright yellow caution tape (warning tape or police barricade tape)
wrapped around her that reads “No Boys Allowed”.
“No Boys Allowed” which was inspired by the singer/songwriter’s many trips to Africa
will be produced by Pollow Da Don and will include featurings from Robin Thicke, Lauryn Hill and Ryan Leslie.

JAMIE FOXX – BEST NIGHTS OF MY LIFE

The fourth studio album from the Grammy Award winning singer will be released on December 21, 2010,
via J Records.
T.I., Justin Timberlake, Rick Ross and Drake will all appear on the CD, among others.
The Oscar winning actor and “Unpredictable” crooner is hoping that ‘Best Night Of My Life’
will confirm his status as a Platinum selling artist.
Something that we will have to wait and see because his recent singles
have failed to set the charts on fire.
Hopefully there will be a “Blame It” chart-topper type of song in here.
